Thax gameTHAX OUT is a fun way to play THAX. You'll need 40 playing pieces or more for a longer game, as long as it is an even number so you can split them equally among the two players. You'll also need the dice and the same THAX gameboard (like the one below).

Thax gameThe object of THAX OUT is to be the last with game pieces. The same rules apply as Classic Thax, however, the final outcome of the game is determined over a series of THAX games, the loser being the one left without any game pieces to place.

Gameplay: Players split the game pieces ("chips" if you wish), determining what the total for each player will be. Obviously, the more pieces you play with, the longer the game. Before a "round" or single Thax game is played, players "ante up" a piece, each placing it in the center (pot). The game is then played just the same as Classic Thax

Anytime a player gets a "THAX", a pair or sixes, the piece they are required to remove from their side (see Classic Thax rules) is placed in the pot. Play continues until there is a winner (a player covers their side completely). The winner of the round gets to keep the pot that has accumulated during play.

Successive rounds are played until one player, the loser, has no pieces left to play. If you don't complete the game (both players have pieces left) but wish to stop playing, the winner would be the player with the most pieces ("chips") left.
